Quite the interesting premise where we have students tasked with assassinating their teacher. The real question to wonder, given how freakishly strong Koro-sensei is, how come he is a teacher?
Still, if the students are in class 3-E, they aren’t allowed to do extracurricular activities. Even more, you are looked at as just dirt. The fact that Koro-sensei gives Sugino advice on his pitching gives you the feeling he wants to be a teacher. Still, how class 3-E is treated is quite disturbing, as kids are looked at as an afterthought. It works for the assassination job on Koro-sensei, but it definitely doesn’t feel right.
Karma is the first real deranged student in class 3-E. He is the first one who gets an actual jump on Koro-sensei, showing he isn’t an undefeatable monster. Though, as he shows, the key is to target Koro-sensei’s weaknesses. It feels like part of this has to do with his duties as a teacher. It will be curious what the students can think of going forward. Still, Karma and Koro-sensei have an interesting dynamic because Karma is the one student that will be willing to push Koro-sensei to his limits.
Still interesting to learn that Karma isn’t really too bad of a guy. As he defended a student from class 3-E in the past, a teacher punished him because the bully was a member of another class. Well, it could make sense his hatred of teachers can come because that moral compass is clearly wrong in what he went through. It does seem that Koro-sensei doesn’t aim to abandon any of his students, which is what Karma might need the most.
Chapter 7 was a nice focus on both Koro-sensei and Okuda. As Okuda is quite skilled in chemistry, and in theory that could be a proven skill in assassination. His lies are something she needed because you can’t rely on one skill in your life. Communication is a basic skill every person needs, generally speaking. Seeing Koro-sensei giving that angel to Okuda shows more of how he cares for his students. It still begs the question, why does he have so much passion for being a teacher?
