Dorohedoro – Volume 17

The devils continue to be quiet while there is a connection between “Living Dead Day” and the department store’s smoke getting bigger. Right now everything going on with Aikawa and Risu’s curse is especially dangerous, but something about that isn’t normal.

Though speaking of the CrossEyes boss, he was trying to become a devil. Well, it is logical that if Ai could go from being a human to an artificial sorcerer, then he could even attempt to become an artificial devil. Considering that devils are seen as gods compared to sorcerers, which makes this a scary concept to imagine. The one thing I wonder is if Aikawa lost his mind when trying to become a devil or if it was an aftereffect of Risu’s curse.

One thing that is unsettling about the CrossEyes boss is that if you die and are eaten by him, you are in ways connected to all of those that were eaten. As we see with Ton, who ran into and was eaten by their boss when he saw Natsuki. The reality for them is to see the boss that they looked up to is now a monster. Of course he wasn’t always like this.

Meanwhile, Fujita is barely making it out and getting En’s devil tumor. Fujita is in an interesting position because he is the weakest among En’s family, and he needed to use black powder at times to survive. So he, in a way, can relate to the CrossEyes. Very much if the CrossEyes got taken in by En, they could very much be in his position.

Still, something bad is about to happen as some man is approaching Fujita and Tetsujo. We see that Shin’s group is falling out of their carpet. Sho has been filling in the void since En was killed, but him dying does thrust Shin into the leadership role of the group. For them, meeting up with Fujita will be the difference between whether En comes back or not.

Meanwhile, once again we see Nikaidou’s devil side acting up again. It’s a bit difficult to know whether this is something to be concerned about or not.
