This episode offered a change of pace, focusing on Aramaki rather than the usual Major, Batou or Togusa. Of course he himself doesn’t have the manpower of those two, but this episode did an impressive job at showing why he leads the group. Major really couldn’t do anything when Aramaki was held hostage, which shows that Aramaki puts his men in the best position to succeed.
What is even more impressive is that he was able to maneuver from being held hostage by the robbers and take that to find the evidence of the bank’s upper management money laundering with the Mafia. Overall, the episode did a fantastic job at showing why he oversees Section 9.
