Interesting new series starting in Jump+ where Nona and her mother mention that a mage was arrested by “The Bureau of Magic Surveillance”. It looks like these two are hiding as humans. We do see Nona has a spell called “ALTOARE”, which can patch up various things. Though we also see that her magic is very limited compared to her mother when they try to capture her. Her mother more so showcases the power of a mage.
We do learn that Nona’s father was human and his sacrifice saved them. This does beg the question of the origin of mages and how different they are from humans. Though we can see the clear hypocrisy in the Bureau, magic is fine when it is used in their hands and in their research. Essentially they seem to want to regulate, which makes their association more despicable than if they were just anti-magic. Especially when we see them killing Lovi & her parents after she admitted Nona was a witch.
Now more than likely Nona’s mother isn’t dead, as it would make sense the Bureau wants to research her magic. We see Nona washed up ashore, and the question to really ask is how will she proceed from this point?
