Now this is truly a tense episode. The workaround for Cheng is for him to be immersed in some photo. It does confirm that he returns to the photo after he claps. Which we did know already. A pretty smart plan from both Jin and Tianchen to keep track of Cheng since they figured he would do the same trick that he did at the end of S1.
Jin is truly far gone. He isn’t too different from the sibling’s father, where he allowed his thoughts to consume him. It’s sad to think he killed his wife. It is clear learning that his wife was pregnant is what started this once he met the kids. Still he deludes himself that it was his wife’s coworker who was to blame. It’s sad to think she was faithful to him outside that one white lie on the phone. Jin turned himself into a monster.
One thing that is clear now is that Tianxi escaped from Jin thanks to her brother. Though it’s clear like Jin he wants to change the past in some way. But what exactly? The question is why couldn’t he do that with his sister and why does he need Cheng? More than likely save his family is what he wants. Though Guang’s advice to Cheng has always been to not change the past.
It does seem at least Tianxi’s tears tell her brother her true feelings. That she just wants to walk away. Sadly her getting shot is going to leave a blow. Hopefully like Guang at the S1 finale she can still survive because this would be a nasty blow to Tianchen to lose the last of his family.
