Fullmetal Alchemist – Volume 7

Some interesting focus on Scar at the beginning of the volume. Much like the Elric brothers are visiting their teacher, the same is true for Scar. Though he is telling Scar to let go of his hatred. Curious what the deal with Scar is regarding his hatred and who exactly his brother was to him.

If there weren’t issues with the military already with the incident at Ishbalan & them researching the Philosopher’s Stone, we now have human experimentation. Those who are under Greed’s command were experimented on after they were supposed to die. Even worse to think what the failed experiments are now. Well, given the outcome of the Elric mom, you can kind of guess how bad it was for the failures. Rather than letting them pass away peacefully, they are now an outcast.

Greed gets revealed as a homunculus, or an artificial human being. Essentially what the brothers wanted was bringing back their mom. Or at this point, what they want is to bring Al’s body and Ed’s missing arm and leg. Of course it is no surprise that Ed would be pissed, given what is happening to Al. Not only that, they know how dangerous human transmutation is. To add to that, Ed might not have a concise idea of how he was able to get Al’s soul the way he did.

Greed is not immortal, and his fight with Ed shows that. He has what is called the Ultimate Shield, which is why he is capable of regenerating at will. Of course, as Ed points out, everything regarding alchemy is a give-and-take relationship. By focusing on the carbon, he affected Greed’s shield.

Still a massive reveal with King Bradley at the end of the episode. We know that Greed is a homunculus, which then means more than likely Lust, Gluttony, & Envy are homunculi too. Though when you consider that King Bradley has the Ultimate Eye compared to Greed’s Ultimate Shield, it more implies that Bradley must be a homunculus too. Though curious, where does Greed stand since it is more than likely Bradley should be on the side of the other homunculus? That is not even getting to the fact of how dangerous and ruthless he was in combat in the last chapter of the volume.
