Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Episode 38

Ghent’s story of building the bridge was pretty admirable. His village fell because there wasn’t one to guide them to safety. For him, wanting to avoid a situation like that is admirable. No surprise Himmel wanted to assist him. It is also good now that the village has recovered.

We get to see the return of the Norm Company in a way that shows that the little things that Frieren has been doing can make a bigger impact down the line. The northern region in particular has been shown to go through a good amount of struggles. With Fern saying that is what Frieren would do, the torch has been passed from Himmel -> Frieren -> Fern.

This staff really knows how to give the fans what they want. That final scene will really hype fans up when S3 comes out in fall 2027.

This episode adapted chapters 79 and 80. The final scene adapts the final 3 pages of chapter 77.

  • As mentioned in the other comment, Ghen’s bridge is wood in the anime instead of steel like in the manga.
  • After the group defeats the big wolf. When they see the pack of them and the Chivalric Order of Norm coming, it is an anime original addition.
  • The Holy Snow Crystal Vein is drawn differently compared to the manga. It looks like more of a wall in the manga. As they can see the view in the anime.
  • The final scene where Stark and Fern are talking, where Fern says, What would Frieren do? It is an anime original addition.
  • I really like how they end this episode as a tease for Golden Land.
