Ascendance of a Bookworm: I’ll Do Anything to Become a Librarian! Part 2 – I’ll Even Join the Temple to Read Books! – Volume 5

Now Myne now has both Wilma and Rosina as her new attendants. Most of the issues for Wilma have been worked around. Though Rosina turned out to be a bit of trouble at the start because she was brought to teach Myne music. What Myne didn’t know is that Rosina served an even more unusual Blue Shrine Maiden in Sister Christine. Essentially she was an extreme noble who loved the arts.

Myne handled this incident quite well compared to Gil and Fran initially. Of course, Rosina’s biggest importance is to help Myne with her music performance. However, she thought things would be like how it was with Sister Christine. Wilma siding with Myne made it clear that Rosina shouldn’t be expecting Myne to be like Christine but her own person. Myne able to offer Rosina work that doesn’t interfere with her ability to teach Myne music is smart. After all, makes no sense to make her main job harder.

This volume continued with Myne focusing on creating her picture books. One note is to show that the quality of art really can only shine if using the right materials. It is good to see Wilma up to the task to change her art style to fit the needs. As being flexible is important.

Funny enough, we are starting to see Myne priorities change with the new baby on its way, as making the picture books is most important. Of course, Myne wasn’t someone like Benno and Frieda who would stress about profits; there is no need to be a stickler for it if it would halt progress for her. It truly shows that she isn’t as invested in being a merchant and that is more Lutz’s role going forward.

Much like with Lutz in Part 1 of the story, now we see the High Priest having his suspicions about who Myne really is. Being able to translate the Bible in a manner the pre-baptized kids can read is important. How will she talk or explain her way out of this particular pickle?
