Dorohedoro – Volume 14

The start of the volume is quite depressing, where we see Aikawa trying to kill himself. It’s clear that there is something else inside of him that is the CrossEyes leader. It’s sad to see that Caiman worked so hard to find out who he is, but the truth is quite depressing.

The decision to have Fujita be the one to retrieve En’s tumor seems like an odd one at first. As someone like Shin, you would think he would be the better choice. Though even if he isn’t as reckless as Noi wouldn’t enter with 100% caution. In a way Fujita’s cowardness is a source of strength because infiltrating En’s former mansion is dangerous given the circumstances. It is also sweet how the rest of the family supports and cares for him even if he is used as a joke many times.

One thing that is easy to forget from Nikaidou’s perspective is that there is a lot of trauma she is dealing with. The stuff with Yakumo is definitely the major one, but there is also being forced into a contract with En and the fear of Caiman leaving her. Though it is puzzling what that monster represents for Nikaidou.

Still, her growing devil horns finally symbolize why En and the Devils view time magic so highly. Her unleashing her magic really made a statement. Granted, the issue is what caught the interest of the CrossEyes boss. It is good to see that Nikaidou finally encountered a timeline where Yakumo is living. While it is understandable why she avoids Yakumo now, I hope in the present they can interact and talk like she does with Asu despite him not being her brother in his current timeline.

No surprise the boos is worrying Dokuga more and more. Him on a rampage to find Nikaidou has him killing more and more sorcerers to an insane amount. Still, the boss ends up in Caiman’s old workplace. Fukuyama is much stronger than appearances may lead you to perceive him. Thanks to that, they were able to hold him off.

Though what exactly is the thing inside Aikawa? Are Aikawa and Ai the same person? We know that Ai becomes an artificial sorcerer. Why does he lose control like he did? Is it a different personality or just him growing hungry for the power of sorcerers? Aikawa wanting to be sealed again is sad, but at this point he is too dangerous to be roaming around. Now what comes next, because sealing the CrossEyes boss is a huge deal? Though why were the CrossEyes truly founded in the first place? Also, how can En’s tumor be retrieved given the condition of Aikawa?
