Ascendance of a Bookworm: I’ll Do Anything to Become a Librarian! Part 2 – I’ll Even Join the Temple to Read Books! – Volume 11

Great news at the beginning of the volume for where Effa gives birth to the new child in the family. Funny how both Myne and Gunther both got kicked out because they were being too proactive and weren’t of actual help. The baby is a boy named Kamil, and Myne will no doubt take all the time she has left with her family to dote on her new baby brother. Though it is sad that the kid might not even remember Myne.

In a weird twist of fate, a baby gets dropped off at the temple. It seems this kid, much like Myne also has the devouring, though more than likely not as big of a case. While it is good for Myne to want to take care of her, she can’t prioritize this one baby over the rest of the orphanage kids. Of course, finding a noble to adopt the kid will be important, but the issue comes with the High Bishop coming out because he might use that kid as a tool or use it to give to one of his connections.

For Delia, it is really sweet how attached she got to Dirk. On one hand, she would be torn about Dirk leaving the temple because she really wants to be a big sister to him. At the same time, Myne knows that Dirk being at the temple poses a risk to Dirk and that should be minimized. At the same time, Delia’s connection to the High Bishop raises some concern to add on top.

Of course it wouldn’t be Myne if she weren’t making some progress on her creation of books, even if it is only slight progress. Ferdinand’s mention of using colors brings Myne to making a connection to the daughter of the new head of the Ink Association in Heidi. It is funny that she is an eccentric like Myne, but of course Myne knows how to motivate one who is like her. Also, the new president of the ink association seems to be a much better person than the other one who was trying to put Myne in danger.

Still, the end of the volume leaves a concern when Myne and Damuel see an alert at the Eastern Gate. Good news: Myne is back at home, but what could have happened to trigger this?
