The Cat and the Dragon – Review

In anime fantasy is one of the most populated genres out there. However a non-isekai where our protagonist is a dragon who leads and protects the magic-wielding cats. The first episode plays as a short movie where it showcases Ryuu and as well the human relationship between these cats. The episode ends where there is an agreement for peace between them.

From episode 2 onwards it focuses on many different humans and their relationship with these cats. It characterizes both the cats and human very well. The relationship feels very human which really adds a lot. Every cat and human gets solid characterization. Each episode in a way like episode 1 feels like a short film. Though a few episodes have a carryover from previous episodes.

Due note there isn’t any plot in this show if you want something more beyond episode 1. But the show knows what it wants to for and the world-building is very solid to add on top. Fans of Frieren and Dungeon Meshi are bound to like it. It goes for a comfy vibe first above all elese.

OLM did the production and it’s definitely one of their better recent anime. Nothing too flashy, just very consistent. If you are a Slice of Life fan, don’t sleep on this show as it is one of the hidden gems of this season.
