Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games – Volume 9

After the resolution between Mio and her mom we move onto the club and the girls getting back to playing fighting games. It’s quite assuming despite Anoya-sensei’s true intention that she is actually helping the girls. Using her own money for the gaming setup and setting up streaming is a big boom for the girls. Curious if she changes her perspective as her time with the club continues.

Seeing Tamaki’s development of her game skill has been really nice to see. Her progression feels very realistic. For many players it is easier to play defensive and when you have players like Hana who are skilled enough where that strategy doesn’t work then your skill is at a level where you hit a wall. It is good for Tamaki to realize that developing an offensive game is improtant.

This volume also dived into the impact of streaming in the FGC. You have players who are content creators. Some legendary players like Gekido who literally just stream of themselves playing. Then you got guys like Café Au Lait who was heavily against streaming. For reasons that aren’t surprising.

Although the biggest part of streaming is also the toxic side of the community where we have Ribon trying to bait Mio. Granted it is interesting how Arisa and Mio handle it. It’s a bit of highlight that Mio has a great talent in baiting people with what she wants. With Ribon you get the reality of gamers in the FGC getting too focused on the content creation side and forgot the original reason they got into the FGC. It will be very interesting how Ribon changes after her matches against Mio.

Most interesting is the case of Arisa who is isolated. After connecting with Mio it’s clearly she is just a lonley girl. Though why is she as isolated as she is?
