Liar Game – Volume 5

The volume provided an even more focused view on Yokoya, as his term of domination isn’t a joke. Essentially, his source of power is through fear. It’s interesting that in his revival round, his strategy is the same that Nao had, but he used fear rather than kindness. It’s also clear that he definitely holds up against Akiyama. He adopted the strategy that Akiyama came out for himself. As one key aspect of this game is the amount in the reverse bank account. Yokoya owned one over Akiyama.

Still one issue with Yokoya’s approach: when you rule through fear, it is easier to recruit them. As the fear takes control of them. The fear that Yokoya’s side could potentially lose. Unlike with leading with compassion, where your loyalty is binding, here, if you rule through fear and you don’t trust them, then there isn’t much left. The bluff works well because fear takes control of them.

This is one game where it is interesting how it truly works. Before, winning the games would allow you to earn the most money. Just winning implies having the most smuggled. However, consider what is left in the ATMs. That also gets added. So Yokoya’s strategy is to ensure that the amount in both outside bank accounts is based on the stuff they smuggled from the southern country. Leaving the unsmuggled theirs to be added at the end of the game. The other aspect is the loser also gets to leave the liar game while the winner would have to pay to be able to leave.

Akiyama aims to ensure the amount they have outside is less but has the ones they recruited to deposit in their ATM. Though it does seem that Yokoya had figured out Akiyama’s plan at the end, where they now get money added to their outside bank account. Curious what Akiyama thinks of next.
