Interesting start to the episode where we have Ochou, who killed her husband and his family. It seems clear that she wasn’t treated well by them or even her mother. Even more interesting, it is the Mononoke that saves her. Which makes the mononoke in this story quite interesting.

The theme that this arc is heading toward is that people hide their intentions behind a mask. For Ochou’s mother, cruelty was hiding behind her mask as one example. The mononoke is more likely a monster, so why would he help Ochou? You could even say that Ochou had a mask because more than likely the suffering she felt never showed on her face. You can tell she took pleasure in the killing.
