With Roei back in the fits, we can start moving forward. Though we do learn he wears that mask just for appearances. It seems when he approached Nishino Village, he got him with some attack. No doubt something fishy is going on around there.
While the move for Higashi Village and the Kagemoris to cooperate makes sense. Gonzo holding so many of the cards and power gives him a lot of leverage. Still, he seems mostly reasonable, so it is still not a big issue to note. It makes sense for Yuru to go back to Higashi Village to speak with Granny Yamaha to get some answers.
One thing that is very apparent is how fucked up things are for the adults in Higashi Village. Yuru confronts them knowing about the break and seal. The adults are literally asking when he is going to die to acquire that power. As we have seen, both Dera and Hana are stepping up to be good enough guardians for Yuru, Azuma and Ken. Minus Kyouko all the other adults just seem awful. The irony of Azuma’s father being so happy for his daughter being ok and asking Yuru when he is going to die is messed up.
Roei’s mention that Granny Yamaha is the same age that she has always been. Which no doubt raises a red flag. The fact she had her lifespan sealed is concerning because who would have that power to do so? Well, it comes from the fact she came from Nishino Village, and it was her older sister Minase who sealed her age. The concerning thing is that this is Akio’s mother. The actual fucked-up manner is that his senses of pain were sealed. Really shows how fucked up things are for Akio.
After Granny Yamaha was outcasted and sent to Higashi Village, they were “blessed” with the twins for Break and Seal. However, they were viewed as tools, much like was the case for Yuru and Asa. Even more fucked up, the leader of the village, Shimei Higashimura, had no regrets killing them to get their powers to emerge. He blamed the seal twin for dying and Right for not protecting the seal twin. Even if he never had the intention to have Right protect the girl. You can really imagine the current Asa in the Seal twins position in the flashback, which really shows how fucked up this whole thing is. Of course his idiocy to put the girl on the battlefield caused him to lose everything.
Still, he went mad, and part of it was due to Minase. As she planted the seeds of so many candidates and twins together. Of course his greed knew no bounds because so what if an innocent kid died? The potential of having the next Seal or break was too good to pass up. The prophecy wouldn’t be consistent if it was just any ordinary kid. It was her intention to create chaos in Higashi Village. It is through Minase that Yamaha got a fraction of the power of Seal.
Still, the question is, how did Minase obtain Seal in the first place? As per her statements, she can only use it on her, which is a lie. Is the reason the previous Seal’s power didn’t emerge in Higashi Village because Minase had the power in the first place? While the powers of “seal” and “break” are pretty explanatory to the terms “seal” and “break.” It does seem the power of Seal can be contagious, unlike Break, which belongs to only one user. Minase possessing Seal could be why Seal and Break never belonged to Higashi Village and they always opposed each other.
This trip is really beneficial to Yuru because he can look at the adults in the face that raised him. No doubt it was difficult to experience, but now he can push forward. As Yuru proceeds to the outside world again, he is moving forward while the villagers in Higashi Village are stuck in the past. All hoping for a miracle for them rather than pushing forward to the future.
It looks like Jin has found traces of Ivan. So we are proceeding forward once again.
