Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Episode 49

One particular note from the episode is that the prime minister’s group is truly not aligned with her thinking. As they are feeling pressure from America given the situation with refugees. Still, it is no surprise that Section 9 got cut off again. Well, at least the prime minister is asking the UN for a nuclear inspection.

Though the refugees want Dejima as its own independent country. Well, it is clear what they are fighting for. The plan to take the plutonium to Dejima is a curious plan, but it could have a payoff when the inspection arrives.

On another note, we have confirmation that Kuze is the boy that Makoto has been searching for. It all makes sense why she is more conflicted and prone to make mistakes. It will be curious how she resolves herself going forward.

For the first time this season, we see the Chief’s brother. He is having a conversation with Kuze and it is interesting how the refugees have an effect on him. Back home he inspired many kids, but here he was inspired by what the refugees are fighting for. So when he got linked to them, he empathized with their cause and wanted to fight. It does feel he has little knowledge of Gohda. Though Kuze aims to give them superstructure rather than hierarchy. As the former keeps checks and balances and the latter just implies those have more power, which is what they are fighting for. It makes sense because the refugees running wild like beasts is the main concern.

As Gohda makes him move, Section 9 does the same. Curious how Kuze handles being isolated from the refugees.
