Daemons of the Shadow Realm – Volume 8

It was nice to get to see when Gonzo took in Asuma’s mother. There is no doubt that the Shingo’s family was awful and Asuma wanted to get away from it. It’s hard to say if Gonzo truly loved Iori or if he felt bad for her. Still, it gave her a place to be, and for Asuma there is no doubt why he wanted to crush the Shingo Family.

Still, the debate that Hikaru has with his father is interesting because his father is kind for bringing in people in his family, but he is ruthless at the same time. One could say that stopped Akio from putting his trust in him fully. However, you could say that Gonzo would do that even with people who are his blood-related family. Though Gabby has a point to Hikaru that while it is nice to give people a second chance, people don’t change that easily. The biggest issue is that if Asa dies, then Break is gone. So Gonzo’s strategy, while cruel, is still the better approach.

Not too surprising that Asa’s feelings are closer to Hikaru. However, more so, how guilty Asa feels is an issue, as both Gabby and Yuru have mentioned is a bad habit. It is understandable why she feels that way, but that guilt will eat her alive. Rather than apologizing, say thank you.

It is interesting that there was no contact between Akio and Asuma’s uncle. It makes sense that Ivan was in the middle of Akio and Asuma’s uncle. One thing that seems to be stressed here is that you can only have one true family. The reason the twins are fighting so hard to find their parents is to reunite as a family. However, families can be a shackle where you can feel you can only have one true family. While this is something that saved Asa and Yuru because they have each other. That can be taken advantage of, which we see with Akio’s mom.

It does look like there will be another war between East and West. Which was between Higashi Village and Nishino Village. It seems likely that Higashi Village had Seal last time. Nishino members seem to be picking off Higashi Village members one by one. It still begs the question, what is the origin of the Kagemori Clan?

Meanwhile, for Higashi Village, we learn that their lifestyle is basically a cult. Essentially, Granny Yamaha enforces a lifestyle of keeping Break and Seal under her watch. If you don’t agree, then you leave the village. Perhaps that is where the Kagemoris came from? Though it seems members of Higashi Village are starting to take their own action, it is difficult to tell if it is good or bad.

It is fitting that both Asa and Yuru have their own nightmares. No surprise Yuru fears being on his own. It is more a deep-rooted fear. While for Asa it is more centered on when she was locked up and when she obtained Break. It is more of a concern, as mentioned, because she feels more guilty of the lives lost because everyone is protecting her.
