Daemons of the Shadow Realm – Volume 2

Despite Yuru being captured, it was good to see how he adapts alongside his daemons. Jin’s daemons can eat anything and can hold storage. Which does give him a wide versatility. Still, Yuru being isolated for so long, how he works with his daemons sets him apart. The biggest is that he is fine taking orders from his daemons, which differs from the typical master-daemon relationship.

Also, we see a hare and tortoise daemon pair, and one thing that is clear is that pairs in this series are meant to be opposites that counteract each other. We see that Yuru’s name, meaning night, really shows that he works well in the darkness. He aids left and gets a stalemate. For him, though, he gets to meet and talk to Asa, and considering the situation, that is good. Though Dera will probably be on their tail soon.

It is quite interesting that, despite the more intimidating first impression, Asa has the personality that is closer to the girl that Yuru thought was Asa. Unlike Yuru who has been isolated and actually alone, Asa has been through a lot. Someone went after their parents after they brought Asa to the Kagemori place. There is still a big mystery of who was behind that and who can actually be trusted here outside the twins.

Even more so, the Kagemori Place gets attacked. When Asa and Yuru get isolated, they get transported into what is the opposite of their names meaning. More so for Asa, she is in darkness, and she is reminded of her time in Higashi Village, so it seems much like the fake Asa she was locked up with. Why, though? At least it makes it clear why her parents tried to get her out of the village, but again, why only Asa and not Yuru?

Another interesting point we learn is that each Left and Right can cancel the twins abilities. For instance, Right can cancel Asa’s break, and if Yuru acquires Seal, then Left can cancel it out. The term natural enemies sounds more like a safety measure. The curious thing is why they were together. Speaking of the master-daemon relationship, it seems that whoever controls them can control break and seal. No doubt controlling the twins powers is big, but getting control of Left and Right sounds pretty notable.

The fighting ends, and they don’t get much useful information out of it. Still, we see from Asa that it is also possible for a daemon to change masters. It makes sense that if provided the opportunity to change loyalty depending on how their master treats them, that can be a notable thing. Not having a mate is more like being a slave to some things. At the same time, it is crucial for daemons to have a master; otherwise, they can go berserk, which is quite scary. Which means when fighting, killing the master can be a bad move.

Asa is really committed to telling Yuru the truth, which you can tell she wants a good relationship with Yuru. But how is she alive if she died, and why would an assassin in Higashi Village kill her?
