“The Demon King’s Daughter Is Too Kind!!” is one of those where what is on the surface is what you are going to get. It’s an incredibly wholesome series, as the series follows Doux, who, as the title mentions, is the Demon King’s daughter. The series follows Jahi who is the closest aide to the Demon King Ahriman, and she is supposed to be Doux on the path to lead the demons.
One thing this show does well is that it does not shy from showcasing the Demons as cruel. It is because of this that it really showcases Doux’s kindness well. The big showcase is that you can have people follow you from kindness rather than with cruelty. It is because of this that the anime becomes a good watch for a young audience because it sends a great message. With that said, this is the most that this show has going for it, and for some people it is fine.
Sadly, the anime’s ending point felt more like a tease for S2. Since the angel group talks about someone with Doux’s kindness not being with the demons. Considering the manga is just 7 volumes, I am surprised this didn’t end up being a full adaptation. It seems this is the clear way to get anime watchers to read the manga. Sadly, the plotline has a lot of potential, and teasing it at the end of S1 might be disappointing, especially if S2 isn’t bound to happen, which for a lot of anime is no guarantee.
Alongside that is the nature of Doux, where we learn that she is the good that was once in her mother, Dahaaka. The question is less about seeing Doux choosing to do kind acts. Is it now she can only do kind acts? It does undermine the message, and considering the series wasn’t fully adapted, I will want to assume Doux still has a choice to be kind because we see Dahaaka acting in kindness because of Doux.
Production-wise, EMT Squared did a decent job with this series. It is not their best work, but they did fine with what they had. This show is one of the best seasons for being very wholesome and having good vibes. With that being said, that is probably the only appeal, and if you are looking for something more, then this show isn’t what you should be looking at.
