Dorohedoro – Volume 18

This was a pretty significant volume, showing that there is something bigger in the works. With the crash separating Shin’s crew, it is a big mess. Ironically, Ebisu is in the best shape, with her reviving Dokuga as Kakio. While for Fujita without Sho’s magic, Tetsujo sees him, and he negotiates with him but doesn’t stop him from dying from a zombified Shin.

As Haru mentions, everything is connected to Ai; Shin loses consciousness and an important memory from the show where Shin’s mom was thrown in some puddle lake after she died. As she was a sorceress, so are the devils throwing sorcerers in their as fuel for something? Shin gets connected, and he goes out of control, killing everyone from En’s family. Though he did plant the item that Sho mentioned before. It would revive Noi and with her magic that makes her unkillable. Still having to fight Shin in this state is rough for her.

No surprise the Devils are interested in the CrossEyes’s boss because he became an artificial sorcerer. So he could very well become an artificial devil. Haru’s mention that the Crosseye boss is one of its pawns. Is there a threat that is on the scale of a devil? According to Nikadiou, the person who attacked Asu was a human. So the things attached to Shin are only for humans. But then what are the dead sorcerers used for?

Nikaidou being in her devil state is a blessing because otherwise she would have been captured like Risu and Asu. It is interesting that it is clear that Risu’s curse is not the same thing as a devil. As he sees, clearly weaker than Nikadiou in her devil form. Though she ends up meeting Caiman after chasing after someone with a devil’s tail. Something isn’t right.

We learn that when the doctor examined Caiman’s head, there was something similar to skulls. There being multiple heads makes sense, as we saw that when Aikawa’s head got cut off. More than likely Ebisu’s magic turned all the heads into lizard heads. More than likely Ebisu’s magic always maintained that Caiman’s personality would always come out. Well, Aikawa, in that case. One thing that is clear is that he isn’t unkillable, but how does he get additional heads? If what Haru said is true, then everything inside the lake, which serves as the department store, is all connected.
