Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Episode 34

Next we end up in what was Genau’s hometown. For someone as stone cold as he is, you still get the sense the sight of this truly pissed him off. Enough to have Frieren thinking a demon was around. We have seen how dangerous the Northern Territory is, and this town is an example of what truly can happen.

Genau’s comment on how it should be the first-class mages and those equivalent who should die first before these villagers. His logic is sound, but it lacks the point of how cruel life can be. Plus, we know demons will always manipulate first, and the weaker citizens are more likely to fall victim.

Genau and Stark’s conversation of what to do with the dead is interesting. As mentioned, we know how dangerous Northern territory is. It makes logical sense to cremate the dead because times are rough in this territory. But at the same time, the point of the clergy makes sense because people should be given a proper burial. One of those situations where both sides have a good point.

The Demon seems to be a 4-blade wielder. It will be interesting how the group goes about tackling it.

So this adapted chapter 71 and around half of 72.

  • The beginning portion of the episode was anime original until Genau shows up.
  • Stuff like Genau’s flashback of his childhood friend was anime original.
  • Good execution on rearranging the parts of 72 that were adapted, as ending it on the demon being a 4-weapon wielder is a good point to end it. Though I wonder how the rest of 72 and 73 are adapted.
