Dorohedo – Volume 13

The CrossEyes killing En and taking over his mansion is a pretty notable thing that is happening around the sorcerer world. Ironically enough, we can see it doesn’t matter who is in charge; the masses will suck up to whoever is on top. The big thing in particular is the difference between En and the CrossEyes boss is that there is a clear structure in order. The CrossEyes boss is such a mystery in this series that the world is probably worse off despite how awful En is.

Still, it is interesting the story has already laid out the pieces for En to come back. It requires En’s tumor, getting Juda’s Ear back, and using Noi’s healing magic. En’s tumor is the tricky part since the CrossEyes boss clearly has it since he can use En’s magic.

It’s good to see Nikaidou pushing forward and embracing her powers despite her trauma. Devil training, which we remember Noi doing awhile back, will help even if she doesn’t want to be a devil. She still cares for Caiman, but at this point she just needs to keep pushing forward for herself first.

Risu’s magic is a curse user, and it makes sense that he was the one inside of Caiman. Now the speculation is why Aikawa killed Risu might have to do with the fact he wanted to be cursed. There is that headless figure in the flashbacks for Aikawa, and when you add the professor’s speculation that Ai is the CrossEyes boss. The curse that became Caiman was something that sealed the CrossEyes boss in a way. There is a clear connection between Caiman, Aikawa, and Ai.

We see at the end of the volume that Aikawa loses control and kills Natsuki after the discovery of her Cocoon magic. At the very least it seems it happened because Aikawa learned of her magic. Considering that Ai became a sorcerer artificially and the tumors contain the magic of sorcerers, then it is no surprise he can gain more magic. Aikawa and Ai must have a connection, but what is it exactly?
