Fullmetal Alchemist – Volume 10

It was very interesting to see it was cooperation between Lin’s and Roy’s forces. Actually, Lin’s guys being able to handle Envy & Gluttony as long as they did was very impressive. We finally get some confirmation of Pride. Though it was through Barry the Chopper that Maria Ross was able to escape. Well, this doesn’t hide the notion of the Elric brothers being treated like kids.

In the encounter with Lust, we really see Al’s resolve tightening. In particular with everyone that they couldn’t save or got involved with them. No surprise Al wasn’t going to leave Hawkeye, which was out of character for her. But man, it’s impressive for Roy to barely make it out of his death to burn Lust to death. Showing that these homunculi are not invincible. His marking a transmutation circle on his hand is crazy since he usually carries the glove on him.

The most curious part is why Wrath did not finish off Roy and the others when he had the chance. Does the portal imply seeing the truth, as Izumi mentions it? While it is true Roy’s kindness is a huge strength and weakness, which makes him so similar to Ed in many ways. It is a more curious move. The concern for Roy is that much of Bradley’s action would make you think he should be a reliable ally. So it is curious how he plays it.

Armstrong ends up getting Ed to go east to meet up with Maria before she heads out. Though more about the horrors of the war from the Ishblan. Of course, from their POV, what the state alchemist and the military did was awful. Though not all were bad, like Winry’s parents. Sadly, it seems Scar was more than likely the one who killed her parents. This is a sad example of when people look at someone badly by association. Winry’s parents were innocent, but Scar and his people, suffering, looked at them as being as guilty.

We see Ed’s father coming back, and he very much resembles the man the homunculus refers to as father. Pinako mentioning that he hasn’t changed a bit makes you wonder if he even is human himself. Through Ed meeting him, we understand why Ed doesn’t like his father one bit. It should make for an interesting interaction.
