Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Episode 24

It’s very interesting how Genau analyzes the exam that Sense used. It logically lines up with her being a pacifist. If you want to avoid losing meaningless lives, it is best to work together. Of course it took a while for this to be realized and for Denken to have the ideal strategy for this exam. I think the big thing about being a first-class mage is that you will have to work with new people very often. For Sense, I assume that if you struggle with that, you aren’t cut out to be a first-class mage.

Übel & Land continuing to be together is quite odd. Well, we know about Land’s ability to create clones, so it isn’t a surprise that it was a clone that was cut down. Funny enough, he can even clone the bottles. With Übel it just feels like she is purely testing Land. Still, he didn’t have to save Übel, so it’s clear that he is at least not as rotten as Übel.

Well, Frieren is carrying on what Himmel would have done by even finding the hidden passage in the dungeon. The strategy they bring up of using restraint or hypnosis magic is intriguing. It is an area we haven’t seen explored yet. Well, Wirbel’s spell is a kind of restraint, but I got the feeling what Methode would use is different from just that. We see that Edel’s hypnosis magic has no effect on Sense’s clone, which basically means that brute force is the only option to go against Frieren’s clone. Still, it has to be mentioned how the examinees have to go up against Sense’s clone, but she has mentioned she won’t assist them. Anyhow, I’m curious what Frieren’s idea is.

This episode adapted chapters 50 and 51. Quite notable are two anime-original additions. The first is Frieren’s group finding the secret passage, which wasn’t in the manga, where the transition to it was quite smooth. Also, in the anime it shows Wirbel’s group taking out their clones, where we were only told that they did in the manga.
