As Tama continues to go through her unpredictable strategy, where instead of being an end closer like Oguri. She decides to be a pace chaser even through the shock of her trainer, Masami Komiyama. She eventually reaches a breaking point. As Oguri follows closely behind her, she hits a breaking point. Which shouldn’t be a surprise, as, given her trainer’s reaction, for her to go for a new approach must be new ground.

One of the big standouts of this episode is the sound direction because there are various points in this episode. First, when Tama runs in stride and passes Royal. Then we see the “threat” of Oguri; we assume that once again Oguri will catch up. Especially when we see Tama cramping. There was a nice way to lead us into thinking Oguri’s dominance would continue, but the reality is that Tama is a great rival to match up to. Then the last change of direction is when Tama hits “the zone” and claims her victory over Oguri.

Though, as Norn mentions, back home Oguri did a fantastic job. Oguri dominated so much that we were expecting her to come out on top once again. Though this is to highlight how talented Tama is. This then starts the rivalry between Tama & Oguri, which Oguri challenges straight on. Being the best in Japan means aiming to beat Tama next time they match up. Which is something to really look forward to as the first cour of Cinderella Gray wraps up.
