Kaya-chan isn’t Scary – Volume 6

Despite what Namu is saying regarding the specter inside of Kaya, it is difficult to believe that she is only a monster. After all, Kaya has made decisions to protect the other kindergartners from the specters and other threats. So it is good for Chie to believe that Kaya isn’t a monster. Still, Kaya’s strength is quite noticeable, but as this manga has been about children needing adult support, it’s great to see she has Kaya’s back. After all, since the beginning, she wanted Kaya to know she has her back.

There are a few interesting things regarding Namu and that is, first, he is part of the Ebisumori family, but from a different branch. Psychic and non-psychic branches, although the fact that they worship the head is quite disturbing. From his POV, he sees the head as a monster in each generation, so does that mean he views the same for Nana and Mutsu? It’s clear Namu had clear trauma with whatever makes up for the family head. Considering Nana’s lack of power compared to Kaya, it does strike things as quite odd.

It is clear, though, that Kaya brings up some memories within Nana. Is Kaya not her first niece? Which means Kaya isn’t her firstborn of Mirai. We do have a girl who gets shadowed out. Though the fact that the family tries to keep the power of the original priestess intact is pretty messed up in its own right.

Though the biggest thing is Mirai because she seemed to use the spell outside the family’s knowledge. I guess it would make sense she would have an inferiority complex for not having powers compared to Nana. Though it seems Nana did love her as a sister. Though the biggest concern is that Mirai is using the spell again for Kaya’s future younger sibling. But why? At least Kaya has a clear personality to speak of. But now the protection from the Mutsu is gone since she is dead. Which really makes you wonder where this series is headed.
