Despite the creepy design, Mobu actually has good intentions. Actually, he had what seemed like a good family until his own daughter passed away. Still much like Kaya, he can see spirits or ghosts. Of course, dealing with grief could have triggered him not being willing to let go of what happened to his daughter. As he mentioned, she turned into a specter, which sounds like the correct terminology here for all the things Kaya has seen. Though funny enough, Kaya saved Mobu even at just 1 year old.
Though Mobu mentions the danger of Kaya’s house. The twist with Kaya’s mom is well done because the indication was that her mother was ill or possessed, like you see in most stories, since she has been inactive in Kaya’s life. Rather, she is pregnant with another kid. Which makes many things happening make sense. Hell, Kaya not being able to spend time with her mom with her mom being pregnant is a common issue for kids. Though what happens to the baby? Are they just born to be a specter? Also, will Kaya’s mom be ok?
Curiously enough, Mobu mentions for Kaya to meet her grandmother. Could this be where Kaya gets her abilities from?
