Interesting to learn what Sorghaghtani’s intention is in asking Sitara to be a spy. It’s not as much doubt with Ögedei, but rather if a friction would occur between Ögedei and Tolui it would have to come from the other brother Chagatai. Sitara becoming a spy to check on Chagatai would be the play. Though I do wonder how being a spy works in this time period.

The conversation between the other Iranian slaves is interesting because we see those women adapted since coming to Mongolia. It’s interesting in many ways you could see similarities to her and when Sitara was a slave in Iran. As for both they made the best of their circumstances. Of course we know for Sitara she lost everything thanks to the Mongolians, so no doubt nothing can replace what she lost.

It’s amusing how the plan to spy on Chagatai didn’t go as planned. As she claims Töregene is her slave owner. Töregene surprisingly lied that it was true. Well curious how Sitara will make the best of this scenario.

Töregene has been one character that has been interesting with how she has been portrayed. Is she like Sitara where her home was conquered and she became a slave? If true then her rising to be one of Ögedei’s wives shows she made the best of her circumstance. Still curious where her heart is in all of this.
