Well, Mikaros’s plan really was well executed. With the ancient ruins to expand the awakening snow’s range and then having the awakened soldiers come back to help defend the king. As the ancient guards that we saw before were there. The one flaw in his plan was his trust in the king.
The king got an opportunity to kill Mikaros and keep Raphaed busy. Interestingly enough, there were signs throughout the story that led to this outcome. The mention from Shalamy that she is the king was technically true. Even more, it was the king who guided Helck & Vermilio in the underground. Still, the true form of the king showcases how power-hungry humanity is and what we have seen with the nobles. Always looking out for themselves, not even caring for their form.
The consciousness of the king is one of the ancients that lived in the past. Well, it makes sense the only way to preserve themselves is their mind. If the King wasn’t foolish, Vermilio & Helck would have lost. The will of the new world is simply people who will push for change. I guess you could say it is the very nature of man to push for change, and those who tap into it advocate it too much.
Their offer to Helck is cruel because they are telling him to die, and in return everyone is saved. Of course, for Helck he started this adventure wanting to die and end the humans. Hell, dying was a fine option for a good while. He made new relations with the demons of the Empire. Considering all of his friends of the past as well. How would they feel if Helck gave up his life? Helck refuses to die and pushes for a path that they all survive.
It should be a surprise the Ancient would use underhand tactics to control Helck. Luckily that failed, but what exactly is about to happen?
