Golden Kamuy is one of those series where defining it by a sole genre is hard. As it has action. Adventure, comedy, gourmet, drama & historical. The best part is it does all of these things so well.
One of the criticisms of the Golden Kamuy anime as a manga reader is that it feels less like an adventure with how much content gets cut from the first two seasons. However, that is not the case here. This season does a fantastic job in capturing the manga, where it comes very close to matching the masterpiece of a manga that it adapts.
The voice acting and sound direction have always been great in Golden Kamuy, but now the pacing is much improved. Also, the depth these characters have is so remarkable. Are you sick of shounen stories where the characters are purely white or black? Well, in Golden Kamuy, the majority of the cast is morally gray, and their motivations are fascinating. Even the most fucked-up characters have a humane side, like Ogata.
The anime in the last 4 episodes hit a stride that is so remarkable. This is what you call finishing a season strong, where each ending of the episode just makes you want to watch the next one. The show delivers on the big moments. I have to give props to Geno Studio; they faced lots of criticism with S1, but they did an outstanding job here.
