As this episode has our group needing money, as Shiraishi used up all of Kiroranke’s grenades. We are introduced to Inkarmat who is a fortune teller. The more interesting thing about Inkarmat is that she recognizes Asirpa’s father. But even more, she hits Asirpa where it hurts because would the guys still help her if they made big money here? Well, for Shiraishi obviously, but from what we know of Sugimoto, of course he wouldn’t. Granted, the skipped backstory of Sugimoto does hurt this scene.
This episode adapted the beginning of chapter 55 and chapters 60-62. Beginning of chapter 63, where the information that Shiraishi gets from Ienaga. Instead of being about the Yakuza boss from the manga, it is about taxidermied human mounts that appear in Yuubari. As the Yakuza arc in the manga is regulated in OVA, changing this scene makes sense for those only watching S1 into S2. Sadly, the anime cuts that and, more importantly, “The Bodyguards of Barato” arc, which are important arcs in the manga.
Which once again raises the issues in this adaptation. We also got the scene with Tsurumi at the end of the episode being from the end of chapter 70. As I imagine, chapter 71 is the starting point of S2. Sadly this episode highlights the issues with this anime adaptation.
