Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Episode 11

Now that the fighting is over, this was a nice episode to transition to the next destination for Frieren. As Kraft has mentioned, traveling is restricted in the northern lands due to their being dangerous. You need to be accompanied by a first-class mage. Of cours with Frieren for sure, that wouldn’t be an issue, though? The actual issue is that Frieren isn’t certified. Now the actual reason why she isn’t certified falls into her character very well. Thus it leads to the next destination for the group being Äußerst.

We are introduced to Kraft, who is a fellow elf like Frieren. Though he is a monk, he is the closest to Heiter of anyone else. He is the first elf we are introduced to outside Frieren. It’s interesting how his passion for the goddess could be seen as similar to Frieren’s passion for magic. Him needing the Goddess to exist is interesting because, as we know with elves and their long life span. Kraft is alone, and the goddess being there to praise him when it’s over keeps him going. Curious how he was before he devoted himself to the goddess.

It is rather interesting how, despite the personalities of Heiter & Kraft differing, you can see a resemblance in their passion for the goddess. The flashback is a good reminder of how it feels good to have someone praise us because the party has seen what Frieren is capable of. Even if Frieren downplays it, it is still impressive.

This episode adapted chapters 23 and 24. Not much to comment on as the music elevates the scenes before they depart. I think they’re adding a bit more to it than what was from the manga. Stark seeing the dessert in his dream is an anime-original addition.
