So we learn what happens when a Replica “dies”. As Nao gets summoned, she remembers everything. She goes through an experience a human never experiences: having memories of their death and continuing to live. This is something we as humans can never experience. Just imagining it sounds terrifying.
It’s great to see Sunao being there for Nao. Allowing Nao to sleep in her bed is a notable sign that their relationship is getting better. To also add how they are communicating. Nao wanted to make Sunao happy, but in consequence, it felt like Nao took her friend away from her. It is clear that Sunao and Nao are different. Ironically, Nao is Sunao’s replica.
The fact that Nao went after Hayase-senpai like she did showed that she has a bit of a mean streak inside of her. We know she loves Aki and that threat illustrated it. He is probably the only one who knows that Nao died, but obviously Sunao was at home. The only person who would believe him is Aki, but no doubt Aki hates Hayase for what he did to Shuuya. NGL, he deserves this trauma for what he did to Shuuya.
The last season we had a mirror of when Nao begged Aki to fulfill Shuuya’s original revenge. Which he would have served his purpose and left Nao’s life. Aki begging Nao now to not leave his life. Nao truly understands she is dependent on Sunao as even her life isn’t her own. Outside of her allowance money, nothing Nao has is hers.
However, the one thing Nao has that Sunao can never have is the love Aki has for her. In a very human-like deception, sometimes we can look at what we don’t have but at the same time be forgetful of what we do have. Thankfully we see that Aki is there for Nao as the two love each other.
I like how Ricchan knew all along Sunao and Nao are different. She even uses the terms “Sunao-senpai” and “Nao-senpai” to separate the two. Of course, if your friend acts so differently, you should notice it. Plus, with Ricchan’s eccentric personality, it’s no surprise she fully believes it.
Love the ending of the episode where we now see both Aki and Nao happy for once.
