As Izutsumi is fitting into the party, we can see that her adjusting will take time. After all, the idea of suddenly eating monsters can be seen as absurd. The conversation she has with Marcille is good because being part of a party is about compromises. Marcille has goals she wants to accomplish, and if it means eating monsters, so be it. For Izutsumi, it is also about finding a place to belong. Though it is clever to use Barometz because technically they are monsters, they look like real sheep, and you wouldn’t know it’s a monster unless you were told that
Though back in the outside world, we are introduced to the Western Wolves. According to Kabru, once a dungeon rises to a specific level, they come to set out to conquer it. To elves and dwarfs, humans are infants, so it makes sense that most people just comply with what the elves want to do. Though we get some answers regarding Kabru because his hometown was destroyed because the dungeon got out of control. It is no wonder that he can’t stand monsters in the slightest.
Of course there is more to his plan because conquering is the key. As that is the key to the survival of the island. Kabru’s intuition is probably on point that Laios can hold a notable key to conquering the dungeon. Though the elves won’t have Kabru play around while they wait. So curious what moves Kabru makes because it is clear the elves have a certain way of doing things.
Curious is when Laios and the party come into what seems like the Golden Country. Though the answer is simple, as the Lunatic Magician cast a spell to give Yaad and the people their immortality. On the surface it looks like a beautiful place, but in reality their lives are lifeless, doing the same over and over again. They have to continue living; otherwise, they will lose their sanity. They are essentially prisoners to the Lunatic Magician. Still, Laios, being the man in the prophecy, goes with Kabru’s hunch and his fears. It is rather curious how this story proceeds from this point. As the Lunatic Magician is watching, will this be the last they see of Yaad? Though could the Lunatic Magician try to revive Delgal much like how Falin was revived?
Senshi has been a great partner for the group throughout the series, but there were things oddly suspicious about him. His tools, for instance, are far too fine and well crafted for a mere adventurer. The big one is that he said he has been in the dungeon longer than its actual existence. Senshi and those dwarves found the ruined kingdom, which was this dungeon before it was actually founded. It is hard to say greed got the dwarves into that mess because they didn’t realize it was a dungeon before it was too late.
A lot of Senshi’s philosophies come from the dwarves that were with him. As the youngest of the group, despite not being useful, he was always fed. Which is why Senshi always tries to look out for everyone. The biggest example was when Chilchuck wanted to retreat and Senshi wanted to give Laios and Marcille his support. Of course, thankfully, Chilchuck was able to convince Laios to head back at the time.
Still, the memory leaves scars, and it isn’t a surprise that a sight of the Griffin plagues his mind. As he doesn’t know that if he ate one of his own kind. Of course you can’t fault his superiors for wanting to make sure he had enough to push forward. Ironically enough, Laios’s monster enthusiast personality works well here because he pushed Senshi to find out what he ate. Sure enough, the soup wasn’t from a griffin but from a hippogriff. You can tell doing that meant so much to Senshi. From his old party to his current one, you can tell Senshi feels loved. Senshi asking if he can come is essentially him asking now that he revealed himself bare if he is fully invested. Before he just wanted to help the next generation push forward, but now he truly wants to aid Laios and company.
