Delicious in Dungeon – Volume 13

The good news is that Marcille has come back to her senses. Essentially, being the Lord of the Dungeon forces one’s true desires to come out, but the actions might not line up with what you originally intended. It is very much in Laios to be the one to consider the abnormal option. Hell, this series started with the party eating monsters. Defeating the demon, which the elves basically concluded is impossible.

It is interesting to view the birth of the demon, and they were a spawn that grew. Much like how a human learns from experience, so did the demon. The contradiction of him eating the desires of humans who want eternal happiness. He can eat that desire, and those humans are at peace, but the demon is ever hungry for more. The demon wanted to plant seeds for desires because even evil wishes aren’t something they would like. If the Winged Lion can make the world his dungeon, then he is basically God of the world. Who has more authority than God in overseeing the desires of his subjects? He could eat the desires of mankind rather than 1 Dungeon Lord.

Laios’s strategy to use the Winged Lion’s powers against it was a very sound strategy because we know no amount of magic could defeat it. Of course a world where demons aren’t a threat is a sound wish, but of course the Winged Lion manipulates Laios to what his true wish was. The temptation works, and Laios becomes a monster and essentially swaps out with the Winged Lion.

At first this looks like it is game over. It’s difficult to know if it was intentional or by a mere accident on Laios’s part, but part of his wish for being a monster is to be able to eat and digest desires. A very fitting way for this series, where essentially it was an eat-or-be-eaten series. Laios beats the Winged Lion by eating it. A very ironic way for the Winged Lion to go out. You could say Laios also saved the Winged Lion from eternal hunger, going from a bottomless stomach to feeling full.

The one issue is now, with the Winged Lion gone, what is the fate of Falin?
