Daemons of the Shadow Realm – Volume 9

Despite being attacked, Hana manages herself more than fine. The real concern was regarding Mineyama, who is in the middle of the chaos, and she is not a battle-oriented Daemon Wielder. Daigo, who is part of Nishino Village, is one hell of a force. His Daemon is essentially a masochist and sadist Daemon pair. The former can tank any damage, and the latter takes that damage and counters it back. Adding Daigo’s strength, and this opponent might be almost as tough as Ivan.

It is quite interesting that this is the moment Roei Tadera made his appearance. At least he is keeping tabs on the situation. Despite his quirky personality, he can more than hold his own. But he isn’t winning any best dad awards.

Still quite interesting that beyond putting the family duties on Dera he doesn’t really have as strong of a connection to Higashi Village as one would think. He used to be a mercenary, and it was his daemons that saved his life. Much like a pet owner not willing to adopt a pet after losing their first pet, we have a similar case for Dera. It is nice to see his vulnerable side. Still meeting with Roei is definitely on the agenda.

It’s interesting that Hana sought out Anna Mineyama. Still, she got some good information on Ivan, as his daemons pair can create space where he can teleport by swapping those positions. Though it seems that might just be one way after being created. It’s clear that she is more so just a cleaner that is obsessed with Ivan. Though her daemon Soul Roller is fucked up, as Taro can roll up corpses together.

She freely gives information regarding Nagitsuji, which kind of shows that her loyalty isn’t deep with Nishino Village. Though since Nagitsuji is responsible for the blowup in the Kagemori Manor, he is probably the one who is most dangerous, even considering Ivan. Though Akio’s situation is even more concerning because Ono used him to infiltrate the Kagemoris, and she is still using him. She is literally using her blood relation as a tool. As Asa and Yuru find something to fight for by reuniting with each other, the blood relation between Akio and his mother is turning out to be more of a curse.

What is even more disturbing is that Mineyama’s other daemon can lay eggs in the meatballs that are formed when she gets cleaned up. In fact, we see that it is possible daemons can be created from that. Considering how concerning that is, we see humans can become daemons. I guess it still begs the question, what is the foundation of the creation of daemons in general?

On another note, it is fun seeing Hikaru and his creation of his manga. He sees how awful the world is around him, and of course he wants to create an escape for others. Sadly, the reality of his family is something he can’t escape. Erasing people’s lives so they can’t be tracked is pretty fucked up.

Now that we know Asuma is to be trusted, he is starting to do what he can. It’s interesting that he proposes an alliance between Higashi Village and the Kagemoris. More than likely not including the group that wants Yuru dead. It is a move that makes sense, but the real question is if Gonzo can buy in?
