So when Ivan mentions that he has obligations to the old, I am assuming he means Shingo not Gonzo. Since it would be scary if Gonzo was the one who set up the twins parents to die. Though it feels like this is more so the case of him trying to rile up Yuru with the mention of him killing Yuru’s parents.
Still, Ivan and his Daemon pair are much more terrifying than I anticipated. It seems that one pair can suck up energy, and the other is capable of deflecting Dera’s bullet, which is crazy. It’s one thing to deflect the bullet, but for it to hit Yuru must take an incredible amount of skill to hit home. Granted, going up against the Guardians is proof of that, even considering those two don’t know the concept of dying. Probably more so the point that they never died than that they aren’t capable of dying.
As Ivan gets away, he talks to a girl by the name of Mineyama. Her daemon pair appears to be capable of being a cleanup crew. Though it does seem that he takes orders from her, or at least she doesn’t work under him directly. Curious what Nishino Village they are referring to. It does translate as village of the west. The more interesting thing is what the Kagemoris connection to them is, if there is any.
The other pair of Kyouko’s daemon pair is Riri. It does seem they essentially have the same abilities, but the difference is the gender. It gets referred to as the Battle of Sekighara when the previous wielders of Seal and Break were present. We also know the previous Seal did not gain their powers. More than likely the old Break aided Higashi Village to defeat Nishino Village. Though why did the Zashiki-warashi spirits previous master not return?
We do learn that Dera’s father’s name is Roei. He brought the Zashiki-warashi pair to Kyouko. Kyouko seemed like a good person who was a rarity in the village. It’s difficult to know if she is still alive, but she could be one that Yuru could still trust, even though that would be hard. Still, it’s clear the greed of having Seal and Break under their control is what the villagers cared for first.
Hopefully the Kagemori and now Dera present a route for the twins to live a life they want. It is interesting that both Yuru and Asa want a normal life. But the difference is how they grew up because they lived in different worlds. Yuru isolated in a more conservative world, and Asa in a more modern one. The common thing is that they want to be a family again.
Though reuniting with their parents will be tricky. It has been shown that Asa has dealt with a lot more trauma than Yuru. One thing that is clear is that at this point Asa requires more support around her, while Yuru can afford to be more independent with Dera. Essentially each twin is in a role they can excel in. The only question is how much can the Kagemoris be truly trusted?
At least the rematch with Ivan will be happening soon.
