Daemons of the Shadow Realm – Volume 5

We actually finally get a detail of what Ivan can do with his daemon swords. It seems he can create space and teleport. It does seem that things are more likely one way once it has been used. Still, it makes sense why he was able to get the daemon users inside the Kagemori compound now.

Interestingly enough, the reason Ivan infiltrated Higashi Village was to retrieve the fake Asa. Well, the play is to lure Yuru which isn’t a surprise. When Danji meets up with Yuru we learn that he is a Daemon. This really puts Yuru on the spot because now Danji who seemed like his closest friend in his village, seems like he was keeping tabs on Yuru. While the fake Asa was bait to make sure Yuru wouldn’t leave the only family he had left.

The two of them are a pair of Zashiki-warashi. As their master is Kyouka as we know, Granny got in the way of the twins parents also escaping Yuru. Is this more so blind loyalty for Kyouka? It feels clear that learning it is her hurt because there is no one left in the village for him to trust. Funny enough, when Yuru was gathering his thoughts alone, the Pup, who was a master to daemons helped him a bit. It indicates that there is a reason the daemons are fond of being a master to this dog. Yuru is a good guy because it would be easy to hold disdain for Danji, but he cares for him. Of course, he wants to get answers, but he realizes he really can’t blame Danji.

It is good to see Yuru is perceptive as Dera makes his moves. It seems Yuru is more than fine taking the bait to save the fake Asa. Still, with the combination of Asuma’s daemon and Ivan roaming around, they kidnap Yuru. No doubt they are aiming to kill him so that Yuru can acquire Seal.

Meanwhile, Yuru’s daemons encounter Ivan. Though the disturbing matter is that the blood that they sense off Ivan’s sword is the twins parents. We know for sure that Asuma was the rat that led to the parents disappearances. Though the parents being alive might not exactly be at high odds at the moment.
