The series has shown that humans can treat their daemon pair improperly. At the same time, a daemon pair can take advantage of their master, as we see with Long-Arm and Long Leg. Even more so, they definitely presented a challenge even for Left and Right. Still, Dera is showing he is quite crafty as well, but Yuru lives up to his word that he won’t hide against what comes his way. Granted, even he knows his limits, and knowing when to ask for help is good. But one key interaction is how terrified the daemon pair is at the potential of the seal. It is clear that just the threat of the seal itself is a trump card that Yuru shouldn’t give away.
The master of Long-Arm and Long-Leg turns out to be Ken Dera. Dera’s half-brother, who is 22 years younger than him. It does appear that Dera’s father helped the twins parents escape the village and left the legacy in the family in his hands. Dera seems genuinely left in the dark, but the fact that he helped the twins parents escape to the Kagemori more than likely implies that there has to be something notably wrong with Higashi Village. Not to mention the twins grandmother on their father’s side is what prevented them from taking Yuru as well.
At the very least, Dera’s father is alive since he is still supporting Ken, but where is he hiding? At the very least, this information for Yuru and Dera means that more things about Higashi Village shouldn’t be trusted. Having Ken around might benefit Yuru the most because he can try to understand Asa’s concern of him being in danger, and the potential friendship between the two could be a good one.
Not a huge surprise among the Kagemori that Asuma is the one involved with the attack on their home. Still, as his daemon is good at spying and trailing, it does seem he doesn’t have much of a bite compared to his uncle. We have a case that both sides have members of their clan that want to use the twins for their own good. We learn that members of Higashi Village tried to kill Yuru to unlock his seal abilities. Which goes back to Left and Right saying the danger with the twins is about who will manipulate them to use their powers. More than likely Yuru is in shape, but the real concern is Asa.
The concern for Asa more and more is her lack of connection with family. Unlike Yuru it is clear she has emotional vulnerabilities. Her parents disappeared, and I think she realizes her grandmother on her mom’s side is being used by daemons. I’m curious if Yuru aims to go back to his mom’s home village to face that danger. It would make sense, as Asa is more likely to proceed with caution, and Yuru would aim to face it.
The swordsman who invaded the Kagemoris place is a swordsman named Ivan Yosano, whose swords are his daemons. Fitting a long sword and short sword complement each other. Curious if his side of the Kagemoris is allied with the corrupted side of Higashi Village or not?
