This was the packed volume. The first we learned about Principal Asano’s past. As the series has been about the roles of teachers, here for Principal Asano he had a prep school at the same location where class 3-E is located. Much like Koro-sensei, Principal Asano did everything for his students. He did everything for them.
However, at some point a teacher has to say farewell to his students. Principal Asano taught his students to be kind, but of course in the real world not everyone will be kind. It’s clear it would have been better if he had taught Ikeda to have more confidence. Unfortunately, this warped Principal Asano to basically thinking that he needs to teach his students to be a winner, which we see now. Sadly, we can see this strategy wasn’t bound to work forever. While Principal Asano isn’t changing his views because multiple teaching methods can be valid, at least now his eyes are open. Aiming to be a better father is quite notable for him.
A giant twist: we see that Kayano has tentacles much like Itona. It is something that was extremely subtle because nobody would expect it. Still with the students as assassins, it feels fitting that Kayano might be the best of the bunch. Smart for Shiro’s comment to be about her rather than Nagisa, which is who we assumed he referred to. It makes Kayano seem like the pathetic heroine, well, because nobody would expect her to be the most capable assassin in the class.
It all stems from Kayano’s older sister, who loved teaching. When she taught class 3-E briefly, that much was clear. But what is most interesting is how similar her passion is to Koro-sensei. Which makes it odd he would seek to kill her and be such a passionate teacher for class 3-E. There is something we are missing about Koro-sensei and Yukimara-sensei’s relationship. In fact, Koro-sensei was the Grim Reaper. Curious what that means. He is the most deadly assassin.
The way that Nagisa gets Kayano to calm is creative in the way you wouldn’t expect it. Much like Itona, the tentacles were preying on Kayano’s desire for revenge. It is fitting that she enjoyed her time because otherwise she would have attempted the assassination much sooner.
Shiro calls Kayano her older brother, meaning he is the reason for killing Koro-sensei is for revenge. His name is Yanagisawa. Curious who the other individual was. 2nd generation could mean he is similar to Koro-sensei. Learning about Koro-sensei’s past will be great, but the fact that the planet dies in March implies that Koro-sensei doesn’t want to destroy the planet, as that would align with how much he loves teaching. Perhaps he is a bomb in a way?
