Preparations for the upcoming winter are in sight for Myne and her group. Between clothes and finally getting the ceremonial robes for her to wear for her duties. No time to finally see it in action is when Ferdinand gets called by the Knights Order. It is interesting to learn that he was once part of those knights.

The task that they get called for is to eliminate the Trombe. We have known how dangerous that Trombes could be, but we couldn’t imagine it could be this big of a threat. The fact that Myne could use it to be such an asset for creating her books is outstanding.

Still, this volume was a big showcase of how the lives of nobles are much more complicated than what we know so far. One of the knights, Shikza grows a distaste for Myne because she is a commoner, which is much the reaction that the High Bishop had for her when he learned she was a commoner. It seems the High Bishop is a pain even in the background. Though this showed how delicate Myne’s mana is, the fact that things like tears and blood have mana flowing through them really shows how careful you need to be.

Thankfully Ferdinand notices the situation and gets things under control. For someone who is so calm in the temple, he is quite terrifying. Essentially Shikza disregarded Ferdinand’s orders, and he made no attempt to humiliate him. He has an interesting quote that he only starts battles that he can win. It does showcase how he is in the temple with the High Bishop. He is wise but quite cruel.

At least Myne is safe and was able to finish the ritual. Even if she did overshoot more than what Ferdinand would have hoped for.
