It’s interesting to learn that Jura can be seen as the previous Nico. In fact, she was kind and kind of had the bad ending when Hrothsvitha reincarnated into her. To also add, Shikimi was a survivor of the Great Mage War.
So now, because of the curse, the group needs to fulfill a pact with Nico. I think at this point this is a no-brainer for them because their goal was always to keep Nico safe. If Nico dies, then they die means nothing because they would put their lives on the line for Nico. Especially since the pact can be dissolved after the fight is over.
