The Darwin Incident – Volume 3

Considering everything that happened at Charlie’s school, there is no surprise that the FBI is getting involved. So now they plan on them capturing Charlie. Though we know that task is hard for them. Though the two men raise a good question as to why Ala is now fixated on Charlie. As if they cared about protecting him and making him their leader, why wait now?

To make matters worse, people are pushing blame on Charlie. Of course he is not to blame at all; in fact, as Deputy Graham saw, he prioritized saving lives. Sadly, a hybrid of human and chimpanzee isn’t one people would warm up to. Though their coming to Charlie’s house was just the start of it.

Though it’s good to see Deputy Graham being more open. In his conversation with Ronnie, you get to see him try to defend Charlie. Of course Ronnie points out how the others acted is human nature. You would think logically, but they will resort to what they are comfortable with. Of course Ronnie doesn’t want bloodshed and would rather see the family just leave. Of course the family won’t leave because Charlie’s parents moved here for Charlie. Bert clearly is looking at an optimistic POV of believing humanity would evolve. While Graham is looking at the current situation. Neither guy is wrong, but at least through this, it shows Graham is moving past his grudge of blaming Charlie.

Though the big thing in this volume is that Rivera is actually an even bigger headcase than one would think. He follows Gert’s thinking in wanting humanity to evolve. Unlike Gert, though, he is willing to force that growth. He is a big believer in Darwin’s theory and wants to push more science on the more conservative. More than likely Rivera is the reason the Ala want Charlie. Rivera has his own goals, but their interests align for the moment.

Though Charlie’s combat ability is impressive, especially considering how well he can adapt. It’s interesting that the doctor who is Charlie’s actual father is what caused the raid on the lab. It’s clear if Rivera knew that the baby saved was not just a normal chimpanzee, then Rivera would have kept Charlie. Of course it wasn’t until Rivea found Charlie recently. Still, the desire to find his father makes sense, but I doubt Charlie would ever trust Rivera.

To make matters worse, Rivera knew of the issues with the neighbors. His real goal was to get law enforcement on his side because that would allow the neighbors to act. Sadly now Charlie tries to save his foster parents in the fire, but they are both dead. Just how is Charlie going to react to this? This truly shows Rivera is an evil, awful man.
