Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 – Woke-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome

For episode 6, which covers the 6th short story from Fujimoto we have simply a story of a boy who woke up as a girl. Of course the interesting part here is the setting is 2000, which, compared to now, was less accepting of things regarding LGBTQ. Toshihide, from what we can tell, is a crybaby who gets bullied. Funny enough, not much changes as he turns into a girl. As the bullying just feels like sexual harassment. Thankfully, Akira saves him.

Though the real concern with Toshihide changing genders is if he became a girl on the inside. Of course it adds more when Akira saved him. Rie panicking makes sense because is my boyfriend-turned-girl going to leave me for my brother? She might have gone too far, but it points out how much she was freaking out over the situation. Which you can understand why she was freaking out. Akira is offering great advice for Toshihide. Will you be a man or a woman? Moreover, are you going to let people decide who you are, or will you be the one to decide that? Great scene for Toshihide going after Rie. Of course it was cute that after comforting her and kissing her, she played as the tomboy girlfriend for him. Ending this episode with a great message: it is about who you are on the inside rather than the outside.
