Quite interesting with all that Sitara learns she realizes her unique position. She was first appointed Sorghaghtani to investigate Chagatai, but she ended up with Töregene who is one of the wives of Ögedei. I do like that for both Töregene and Sitara they both moved forward with new names knowing their attachments to who they are in the past don’t help with their current goals. But of course it is still always a part of them.
Interesting to learn here that while Tolui is loyal to Ögedei. The first key to cause a rift between the factions of Tolui and Chagatai. More so in supporting Tolui because if he grows with power that is the rift they want.
As Sitara aims to cause the rift it seems likely that Möge will want to make that rift not happen. To make sure Tolui isn’t too powerful. Now does that mean supporting Chagatai? I am not completely sure. On another note I am interested in learning more about Boraqchin.
The part where Ögedei gave the starving man Möge’s earring is interesting. I get the sense he knew that they were so valuable that eventually someone would see it as something to give as an offering to the great Kha’an.
