Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky – Review

Fireworks can bring a spark in people’s lives. In many ways, the same thing with love. “Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky” is a series that showcases this concept. We have the two leads, Koharu Fuyutsuki & Kakeru Sorano. Koharu is a blind girl, but despite that, she has an energetic personality that is very contagious. The more time Kakeru spends with Koharu the more he wants to be with her more and more.

Admittedly, the one weakness of this volume is the early characterization of Kakeru because why is he so dismissive of people? Why does he always want to be alone? It is highlighted the issue with his parents, but it is never elaborated too much in this volume. It is clear that Koharu brought a spark to his life.

However, Koharu is an example of how someone who appears on the outside is way different from how they feel on the inside. As Koharu has been battling cancer since a young age. For her, life can be seen as a living hell. In the early part of the series, she accepted that her life would be gone. When she bows out from the cast’s lives, she accepts her inevitable death.

However, the spark that Koharu brought to Kakeru’s life is what makes him refuse to give up on her. After all, it would be easy for him to do that. The impact someone can have on us is not linear. What Koharu did in so little time is nothing but outstanding. Thus, Kakeru does not give up on her no matter what.

In turn, his stubbornness at being by her side then creates a spark in her life. She ended up falling for him before she pushed him away. It was that stubbornness that made her willing to push for her goals and live life for all that it had. No doubt the two of them didn’t have the easiest life, but Kakeru pushed Koharu to take all that life had to her. Even after her death in the epilogue, this happens again when he hears a recording of Koharu before she died. It’s a beautiful story about how powerful love can be.

The two side characters add a lot of personality to the story. Yuuko Hayase and Ushio Narumi add a lot of charm to the story without overstepping on the lead’s time in the novel. Yuuko is Koharu’s first friend. Koharu affects her similarly to how she does with Kakeru. As a friend, she pushes her to realize life is supposed to be how you want to live. Meanwhile for Narumi he makes a good friend for Kakeru who has a lot of empathy. As we learn, he has an older brother with Down syndrome. It is because of that experience with his brother that he empathizes with Koharu easily. It makes sense why he treats Koharu as her own person anytime they interact. Yuuko does the same, but it is assumed that the development has that before Kakeru and

This book tells a beautiful story, and I would rate it 8/10. If Kakeru had more characterization, then this could be 9/10 from me.
