Interesting usage to show the princess meeting Ijekiel and then showing how she got there. Though it mostly comes from Athy being frustrated by how Lucas was teaching her magic. Though it was good to meet Ijekiel for the first time. We see from Athy’s perspective that in the future, Ijekiel becomes a puppet for Duke Alpheus. We even see him being conflicted about studying abroad. No doubt Jennette doesn’t want him to do that. It’s clear the pressure the Duke is putting on Ijekiel is known. Athy shouldn’t feel guilty for rejecting the Duke’s proposal, but it’s clear it’s had a negative impact on Ijekiel.

As Lucas brings Athy, it is clear that he isn’t accounting for her feelings. Which leaves her frustrated, and she storms out. While Lucas may very well be talented, it is clear the indirect approach to teaching isn’t the best suited for Athy. She falls for the same trap that she fell into when she was younger but now can escape and acquire water magic. Obviously this isn’t the best approach; at least Athy is now making progress.
