This episode concludes the first arc. As Himekawa sticks with his love for Tomi-Hime, the interesting part is that he becomes less human. In an interesting spin, this forbidden love takes away the Forgotten God’s immortality, but it takes away Himekawa’s humanity. The truth is that Tomi-Hime can’t live like a human that Himekawa promises him. Both are something in between the Forgotten Gods and humans. It does show that following your heart into the supernatural has a cost. Not just for Tomi-Hime.
At the end we do see more eagles, which is a nice easter egg to show that the Forgotten Gods have become new eagles, like what was the case for Tomi-Hime’s mother.
