Mine gives the High Priest a good enough answer for now. As Myne has been shown to have a terrible poker face, this works in her favor. Still, her knowledge isn’t something to look down upon. I am curious who the High Priest aims to contact.
One really nice thing in this volume is that Wilma goes outside the orphanage and visits the Myne workshop. We have seen how Myne gets the most out of people, like with Lutz having Wilma work on the art has inspired her. Of course her issues with men aren’t suddenly gone, but she isn’t letting that hold her back from giving it her all. It is excellent to see.
The best news is that Myne has now created a book based on the Bible with pictures. The not-so-great stuff is that the stencils curl up due to the drying ink, and their reusability is limited. Of course it is an issue; it is at least something that Myne and Lutz can prepare themselves for going forward. But still being able to create a book at last is a big confidence boost for Myne.
No surprise there being a Blue Priest is getting in Myne’s way. It is funny how the moment something happened to the books, all of Myne’s rational thinking went out the window. It is a reminder that Myne has to be cautious around nobles. Though reorganizing the books got Myne to learn some important things. As magecraft is something that only nobles use, it is something that Blue Priests have access to. It adds more of a wrinkle in the nobility system that even though commoners view nobles and blue priests as the same, for nobles that is not the case. It seems that Myne could use magecraft if she graduated from the Royal Academy. Though that is far off from Myne’s priorities for now.
The bigger issue for Myne is that the High Priest mentions she must stay at the temple during the winter. Of course this wasn’t what they agreed on, but the Dedication Ritual is one of the reasons why it was allowed for Myne to be a Blue Shrine Priest. At least her family can visit her. Myne being supportive of this shows that she has now formed a 2nd family of sorts in the temple. As much as it hurts for Gunther to not have Myne around, he can’t battle the logic she uses because it is thanks to them that Myne can continue to live.
