Ascendance of a Bookworm: I’ll Do Anything to Become a Librarian! Part 2 – I’ll Even Join the Temple to Read Books! – Volume 2

With the Myne Workshop continuing, it makes sense for Myne to utilize the Orphanage Director’s chambers. Here we really get to see Gil earning Myne’s trust because she praises him for his hard work. Though when Myne has both Gil and Fran go outside the temple, we really see that for them, going outside leaves them as an outsider, like how Myne is inside the temple. It more so raises the point that her attendants help her as much as she needs to help them.

Delia is a bit of an odd case because she gets kicked out by the High Bishop for being a poor spy. At least this gives Myne an opportunity to get on Delia’s good side. With that being said, with how much of a pain the High Bishop has been, Myne still needs to be careful. Though it is clear once Myne sees the state of the prebaptized kids, it makes sense why Delia was so loyal to the High Bishop because she had nothing to go for.

As expected, Myne could not live with knowing that the children were suffering. Of course, handling the situation is tricky because she can’t just spend resources because that will empty her resources. Of course it stems from the High Bishop getting rid of the Shrine Maidens. It is quite sickening who the High Bishop is because he even comes across as a misogynist.

The High Priest preparing a room for only Myne and him to disguise matters really shows that Myne has tunnel vision. As the High Bishop will have people watching. It actually makes sense why the High Priest isn’t very reactive because he can’t get on the High Bishop’s bad side. Though it is clear he doesn’t hold a good opinion of him. Though he presents the matter in a way that he is tasking Myne, as Orphanage Director, with more work for her. It is interesting that the High Priest was not from the temple; it is clear he knows how to act like a noble, unlike Myne. I’m curious what his background is.
